At The Cut & Craft, we seamlessly blend elegance and glamour to create a unique and timeless dining experience for our guests.

From our humble origins, we have become an in-demand destination for premium dining and special events and have found a way to recapture the sophistication and luxury of restaurants of the past.

We have carefully curated a dining experience that speaks to the diversity of our community and the guests who have made our restaurant feel like home.

About why two

Our founders, Oscar Akgul and Osman Doganozu, were already established businessmen and restaurant owners. With their success earned from Lucia restaurants, they were eager to try something new and grow and evolve as local restaurateurs in their community. Upon coming across an available unit under the shadows of York Minster in St. Sampson's Square, they knew they had found the perfect location for the stylish York restaurant they had planned. This beautiful unit is in York's historic Roman Quarter and has won many awards and design recognitions internationally. 

After signing the lease, they embarked on a two-year journey, touring other restaurants and talking to patrons to get a sense of what modern diners were looking for. During this period of research, they discovered that they both considered a quality cut of steak to be the epitome of luxury. The idea was born to open a premium steak restaurant, made accessible with the help of an in-house master butcher. Their ethos? ‘Everyone can enjoy a bit of luxury’.

Whilst researching different steak cuts and working with local beef farmers, they came across the Flat Iron, a cut that with the right preparation and cooking method, could be the most delicious, tender, and beautiful cut of steak. The Flat Iron Steak is now our Signature Dish. 

After a successful year, they began searching for another iconic site for a restaurant in Leeds and found a stunning building where the famous Wallace Hartley played shortly before leaving on Titanic. This legendary site had to be their next venue, and after two years of hard work, they have transformed it into a magical destination rich in history and lore.

Their journey as local restaurateurs continued with their desire to open a third restaurant in Manchester. Another impressive building quickly grabbed their attention. Built in 1826 and featuring Italian palazzo-style columns and original designs and features, this building was once one of the oldest banks in the historic city of Manchester.

Our York location is situated in the heart of the city and boasts a warm, inviting atmosphere that is perfect for an evening out with friends or a romantic dinner for two. Our expert chefs prepare each dish with care and precision, using only the freshest ingredients and the highest-quality cuts of meat. Our menu features a wide selection of mouth-watering options, including juicy steaks, succulent burgers, and flavourful ribs. Our steaks are cooked to perfection, using only the finest cuts of beef that are aged to perfection. Each bite is tender and bursting with flavour, making our steaks some of the best in town.
